1915 Land Expropriation in Ostrowka

Here is the Ostrowka village list printed in the Zhitomir newspaper recording the people of German ancestry who lost their land in 1915. My Great Uncle Julius Neumann is listed; he lost 25 Desyatines. At the bottom of the list is Gustav Stahl (mis-spelled as Stall). Please note that where there are two given names it means 'son of.' For example, 'Neumann, Julius Christian' means 'Julius Neumann, son of Christian.'

1915 Expropriation list, Ostrowka, VolhyniaFrom the Wolhynien Area News, Thursday, June 2, 1916. The Russians sent the Germans of Ostrowka into exile in July 1915, and seized their possessions. The Wolhynien Area News -- a Russian-language newspaper published in Zhitomir, and the major source of information for this part of Ukraine -- published this list of the owners of seized land. Lists were published for all the villages; this list is just for Ostrowka.
